How to Play New York Lotto

$1Wednesday, Saturday6 × [159] + 1 × [1–59]

Overview

New York LOTTO is the state’s twice-weekly jackpot game: pick six numbers from 1–59. One ticket buys two plays for $1. Draws are Wednesday and Saturday at 8:15 p.m. ET, and sales close at 8:00 p.m. Overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 92.05. All prizes are pari-mutuel — up to 40% of sales funds the prize pool, and the jackpot takes 75% of it.

How to play — step by step

  1. 1. Select 6 numbers

Choose 6 numbers from 1 to 59, or mark Quick Pick and let the terminal choose.

  2. 2. Select 1 bonus number

Choose 1 bonus number from 1 to 59. This ball is drawn separately from the main numbers.

  3. 3. Play both panels

A $1 LOTTO ticket includes two separate six-number plays. Fill in both game panels (or take a Quick Pick) so you use the full wager.

  4. 4. Add Multi-Draw (optional)

Mark the Multi-Draw box to play the same numbers for up to 26 consecutive LOTTO draws on one ticket.

  5. 5. Choose how many drawings

Pay $1 per play (add-ons cost extra). Tell the retailer how many consecutive drawings you want, or mark Advance Play on the slip.

Responsible play tips

  • Jackpot odds are 1 in 45,057,474 per play. The other prize levels are pari-mutuel, so the published amounts move with sales.
  • The Bonus Number is not something you choose. Only the second prize (5 + Bonus) uses it, so never buy a ticket expecting to “play” it.
  • The jackpot is paid as a 25-year annuity or a lump sum equal to the cash needed to fund that annuity. Winning tickets expire one year from the draw date.

Frequently asked questions

Choose six numbers from 1–59 in each of the two game panels, or ask for a Quick Pick. One ticket with two plays costs $1 at any New York Lottery retailer.
