CLEVELAND – Love Fuggs of Cleveland won $27,500 playing Pick 5 thanks to an address he saw on the Cleveland Clinic main campus.
As he was leaving an appointment, he noticed the sun was shining on a big building with the address 10001.
“I thought, ‘That’s an interesting number, I’m going to play that,’” Fuggs recalled. He decided to play 1-1-1-0-0 and 1-0-0-0-1, wagering $0.50 and a 10-way backup bet for the August 22 evening draw.
Fuggs purchased the ticket at Quick Shop Food Mart, located at 4263 Monticello Blvd in South Euclid.
He found out he won when watching volleyball on television with his daughter.
“I heard it before I saw it. I was like, ‘Wow, that number sounds familiar. My first thought was that I didn’t play that number.’”
He didn’t say anything when he went to get the ticket from his car to check his numbers. After realizing he did win, he shared the news with his family. He is using his winnings toward fixing up a car for his daughter so she can use it for college.
PICK 5 drawings are held daily, seven days a week, at 12:29 p.m. and 7:29 p.m., and broadcast statewide. Saturday evening drawings occur during the Cash Explosion® television show, which airs from 7:30pm to 8:00pm.
