COLUMBIA, SC (September 17, 2026) – A Lowcountry man’s loyalty to playing Powerball® paid off with a $150,000 win.
“I play every drawing,” he told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.
His golden ticket was purchased from the Raceway #936 on Rivers Ave. in North Charleston and came within one number of winning the Powerball® jackpot on August 8.
He needed a number 9 on his ticket to win that night’s $856 million jackpot. But he told officials he had the number 17 instead. “I had a 9 on my next line of numbers,” he said.
The winner chose to remain anonymous with plans to save the prize and keep playing Powerball®.
Raceway #936 in North Charleston was rewarded with a $1,500 commission for selling the ticket.
The odds of matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball® number playing Powerball® are 1 in 913,129.
