Official release

For the longest time, a Carroll County man reports, he played Keno and scratch-off tickets almost exclusively. He’d won often, but the big prize he dreamed about never found him.

It turns out that he was playing the wrong games. His recent shift to FAST PLAY tickets delivered a quick $50,000 win.

It was Lightning Cash, a $5 FAST PLAY game, that produced the big win – the seventh $50,000 top prize that’s been claimed in the almost three years the game has been available. Eight more of these are still available to be won.

“I just decided, sort of out-of-the-blue, to try something different,” the player said Oct. 22 when he claimed his winnings at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. “So, I tried the first two or three FAST PLAY games the store had and the next was Lightning Cash.”

He was in the High’s store at 6700 Sykesville Road when he made the purchase and discovered just how much luck had come his way.

“I can’t remember what first went through my head,” he explained. “It’s all a big jumble in my memory.” It seems there was one thing that he could remember coming to him amid the craziness of winning $50,000, however: “I knew I had to call my fiancée to share the good news.”

Though she didn’t believe him at first – it turns out that he’s a bit of a joker – the fiancée said when he brought the ticket home she was as shocked and overjoyed as he was.

That High’s convenience store in Sykesville is feeling pretty lucky, too, as the business receives a $500 bonus for selling the Lightning Cash top prize winner.
