THE PRICE IS RIGHT™ Indeed for a Hyattsville Woman

She’s an office assistant by day, and a Maryland Lottery scratch-off fan in the evening. A game she began playing early last month, THE PRICE IS RIGHT™, has given her two other names as well: $50,000 winner and, for purposes of telling her story and remaining anonymous, “Big Money Honey.”

She keeps her eye out for new games, the winner explained Oct. 2 when she claimed her winnings at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

“I like knowing that most of the top prizes are still available when I play,” she said. This strategy had her focusing on THE PRICE IS RIGHT™ scratch-off early in September.

“I’ve won a bunch of times these last few weeks, so I always look for it first.”

When last she looked for the $5 ticket, she was at the Shoppers grocery store at 806 Largo Center Drive in Largo. Happily, the grocery store’s Lottery vending machine had THE PRICE IS RIGHT™ game among its offerings. The Hyattsville resident bought one and put it in her purse for later.

“I always scratch my tickets at home. It’s a fun part of my evening routine,” she said.

Her late-September surprise came later in the day than normal, as her schedule that day was jam-packed.

“It wasn’t until almost midnight that I had a chance to play my ticket.”

She reports she remained calm – and quiet – when first seeing the $50,000 prize revealed. Upon confirming the top prize win with her My Lottery Rewards app, however, she couldn’t keep the excitement bottled up.

“I really tried not to, but I ended up waking everybody up,” she said. Once the half-asleep family got a look at the ticket, they all joined “Big Money Honey” in her late-night celebration.

The THE PRICE IS RIGHT™ debuted in late August with six $50,000 top prizes. This Hyattsville win leaves four unclaimed. Eight of the game’s $5,000 second-tier prizes also remain in circulation.

The game also includes a fun second-chance promotion. Non-winning THE PRICE IS RIGHT scratch-offs can be entered into My Lottery Rewards for a chance to win a GAME SHOW EXPERIENCE Trip Prize Package. Six winners will be selected to receive a five-day, four-night trip for two to Los Angeles, California, $1,000 spending money and a group excursion. While in Los Angeles, each trip winner will get a chance to participate in the lottery exclusive GAME SHOW EXPERIENCE Event for the chance to win a share of up to $10 million.
