“Is this real or not?” Lorton man wins $200,000 in Pick 5.

An anonymous Lorton man stopped at the Giant Food at 8941 Ox Road in Lorton and decided to buy four Pick 5 tickets, each with the same set of numbers, for the August 29 night drawing. When those numbers were drawn, he won four times for a total of $200,000!

The winner chose to remain anonymous. Virginia law permits any winner of a Virginia Lottery prize to claim it anonymously, in which case the Lottery does not publicly disclose the winner’s identity. 

The winning numbers for that drawing were 0-7-3-1-0. The man’s reaction to winning was, “Is this real or not?!” It was most certainly real!

The Lorton man wagered $4 on the same set of numbers. Each play won him $50,000 for a total of $200,000. 

Pick 5 drawings are held daily at 1:59 p.m. and 11 p.m. The top prize for a $1 play is $50,000. The chances of matching all five numbers in exact order are 1 in 100,000.

All Virginia Lottery profits go to K-12 education in Virginia. The winner lives in Fairfax County, which received more than $54.1 million in Lottery funds for K-12 education last fiscal year. In Fiscal Year 2026, the Lottery raised more than $914 million for K-12 education, making up approximately 10 percent of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.
