Official release

VALLEY CITY, OH – One very lucky Valley City man won a cool $1,000,000 thanks to an Ohio Lottery Millionaire Blowout Scratch-Off.

He said that he really had to work to get to the store because there was a railroad crossing out and lots of traffic, but he’s glad he stuck with his plan. He purchased a couple of scratch-offs and brought them home. He chose the Millionaire Blowout Scratch-Off because he had won $75 multiple times and felt like there were a lot of winners.

He scanned the ticket with the Ohio Lottery app and thought he won $40,000. He looked at the ticket again and saw that spot 62 was the winner. He scratched it fully and saw that it said “$1 MIL.” He was very surprised that it was 25 times the prize he originally thought he had won.

When he told his wife that he won, she thought he was joking. She didn’t really believe it until they went to the Lorain regional office to claim their prize.

The winner opted to take the one-time cash payment of $500,000. After 26.75% mandatory state and federal tax withholdings, he will receive $366,250.

They plan to pay off bill, get new windows and invest the rest.

The $50 scratch-off offers players the chance to win up to $40,000/year for 25 years. The overall odds of winning are 1 in 2.73. As of October 14, 2026, there are 50 grand prize tickets remaining.

Grafton Crews Thru located at 495 N Main St. in Grafton sold the winning ticket.
