“I just never thought I’d win anything!” Franklin County man wins more than $574,000 playing Cash 5 with EZ Match online.

“I just never thought I’d win anything!”

That’s what an anonymous Franklin County man said when he realized he had won a jackpot worth $574,769 in the August 12 Cash 5 with EZ Match drawing. The man bought a ticket online for that drawing using $105 that he had won the previous day in an online promotion. After the drawing, the man got up for work at 3 a.m., as usual, and checked his email. That’s when he saw that he had won! 

The winner chose to remain anonymous. Virginia law permits any winner of a Virginia Lottery prize to claim it anonymously, in which case the Lottery does not publicly disclose the winner’s identity. 

The winning numbers for the August 12, 2026, drawing were: 3-12-17-20-23. 

Cash 5 with EZ Match features a rolling jackpot starting at a minimum of $200,000. The odds of matching all five numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 1,221,759.

The Virginia Lottery gives players the opportunity to play popular games, such as Powerball, Mega Millions, Millionaire for Life, Pick 3, Pick 4, Pick 5 and Cash 5 with EZ Match online. Players must be at least 18 years of age and physically located in Virginia.

In Fiscal Year 2026, the Lottery raised more than $914 million for K-12 education, making up approximately 10 percent of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.
