WEST VIRGINIA LOTTERY ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF NFL-INSPIRED POWERBALL Xs AND Os™ Weekly draw game will combine excitement of NFL admiration, a rolling jackpot, and the first national promotional prize program in Powerball history
Charleston, W.Va. – With fall quickly approaching and football season in tow, the West Virginia Lottery announces the launch of an all-new, multi-state lottery game, courtesy of Powerball and the National Football League (NFL).
This game combines two iconic brands into a unique game-day experience, with ticket sales beginning Tuesday, September 8. The first drawing will be conducted Sunday, September 13. Instead of picking numbers, players will choose eight logos out of the 32 possible NFL options, and each Sunday at 10 p.m. a random drawing will select eight winners.
“We are ecstatic to launch this game,” Acting Director David Bradley said. “West Virginia has a storied and rich devotion to the game of football, and we are excited to add a lottery twist to that fandom. During our research for this launch, we learned that our state has one of the most-devoted NFL fanbases per capita, and we can’t wait to watch that adoration cross into the Lottery world. But even though this is a brand-new twist, we want to remind all of our players how important it is to play responsibly.”
Each ticket will cost $5 per play. Players must match four winning logos to win prizes, and all eight winning logos to win the jackpot prize- which starts at $1 million and increases after each drawing that a winner is not produced. Tickets will be available in 24 lottery jurisdictions.
The drawing results are random and are not based on or determined by the outcomes of any NFL games in any capacity.
The game’s launch also marks the start of the new Powerball promotional prize program. Eligible tickets (both winning and non-winning) are entered into a program, where points can be earned to later enter into drawings for exclusive prizes, including a trip to Super Bowl LXI in California.
