FLORIDA LOTTERY AND FLORIDA GAMING CONTROL COMMISSION HIGHLIGHT RESPONSIBLE GAMING EDUCATION MONTH

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – During Responsible Gaming Education Month, the Florida Lottery and the Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC) are partnering to promote informed play and encourage Floridians to make thoughtful choices when playing Lottery games or participating in legal gaming activities.

Education and awareness help protect Floridians and ensure responsible gaming remains a form of entertainment. The Florida Lottery encourages players to know their limits, set a budget, and never view Lottery games as a way to make money. The FGCC promotes the integrity of gaming in Florida while increasing awareness of problem gambling and connecting Floridians with resources.

“Responsible gaming education is an important part of helping Floridians make informed decisions and keep gaming fun,” said Florida Lottery Secretary Reginald D. Dixon. “The Florida Lottery is committed to providing players with the information and resources they need to make informed decisions and play responsibly. We are proud to join the Florida Gaming Control Commission in raising awareness and reinforcing the importance of responsible gaming.”

“Education is one of our most important tools in protecting Floridians,” said Florida Gaming Control Commission Executive Director Alana Zimmer. “Understanding the risks, recognizing the signs of problem gambling, and knowing where to turn for help can make a meaningful difference. We appreciate the Florida Lottery’s partnership in making responsible gaming resources more visible and accessible throughout our state.”

The Florida Lottery and FGCC encourage players to:

• Set a spending limit before playing and stick to it.

• Treat Lottery games and gambling as entertainment, not a source of income.

• Never spend more than you can afford.

• Understand the games and odds before playing.

• Take a break if playing stops being fun.

• Never purchase Lottery products for anyone under 18 and do not place bets online or in casinos if you are under 21.
