Van Buren County Woman Wins $1 Million Playing Michigan Lottery’s Bonus Multiplier Instant Game

A Van Buren County woman filled her shopping cart and her bank account when a trip to the grocery store turned into a $1 million payday thanks to the Michigan Lottery’s Bonus Multiplier instant game!

“I bought a Bonus Multiplier ticket while I was at Meijer getting groceries, set it on the table when I got home, and completely forgot about it until the next day,” said the lucky 61-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous. “I saw it laying there the next afternoon and sat down to scratch it off.

“When I saw how much I’d won, I started screaming. I told my husband we had to go downtown to check my lottery ticket because it showed that I won $1 million! We both couldn’t believe it. I don’t think it’s going to fully hit me until I see the money in the bank.”

The player bought her winning ticket at the Meijer store, located at 7300 Eastman Avenue in Midland. She recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. She chose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000 rather than annuity payments for the full amount. With her winning, she plans to complete some home improvements and start a savings account for each of her grandkids.

Players have won more than $7 million playing Bonus Multiplier, which launched in August. Each $10 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $10 up to $1 million. More than $39 million in prizes remain, including two $1 million top prizes, 36 $10,000 prizes and 184 $2,000 prizes.

In 2025, Lottery players won more than $1.7 billion playing instant games.
