How to Play Powerball

$2Monday, Wednesday, Saturday5 × [169] + 1 × [1–26]

Overview

Powerball is a multi-state jackpot game: five white balls from 1–69 plus one red Powerball from 1–26. A standard play costs $2. Jackpots start at $20 million and grow until they are won. The same matrix is used in Florida, Georgia, Texas, and California.

How to play — step by step

  1. 1. Select 5 numbers

Choose 5 numbers from 1 to 69, or mark Quick Pick and let the terminal choose.

  2. 2. Select 1 bonus number

Choose 1 bonus number from 1 to 26. This ball is drawn separately from the main numbers.

  3. 3. Add Power Play (optional)

For $1 more, Power Play can multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, or 10x. The 10x multiplier is only available when the advertised jackpot is $150 million or less. Match 5 with Power Play pays $2 million.

  4. 4. Choose how many drawings

Pay $2 per play (add-ons cost extra). Tell the retailer how many consecutive drawings you want, or mark Advance Play on the slip.
