Overview
California Daily 4 is a four-digit game. Pick four digits from 0–9. A play costs $1. Straight must match in exact order (1 in 10,000). Box matches in any order; odds depend on repeating digits (four different 1 in 417, a pair 1 in 833, two pairs 1 in 1,667, three alike 1 in 2,500). Prizes are pari-mutuel. There is one drawing per day.
How to play — step by step
1. Select 4 numbers
Choose 4 numbers from 0 to 9, or mark Quick Pick and let the terminal choose.
2. Choose Straight, Box, or Straight/Box
Straight is exact order. Box is any order. Straight/Box splits the $1 wager the same way as Daily 3: exact order pays half Straight plus half Box; any order pays half Box only.
3. Mark Advance Play (optional)
Play the same numbers and playstyle for 1–7 or 14 consecutive daily draws on one playslip.
4. Choose how many drawings
Pay $1 per play (add-ons cost extra). Tell the retailer how many consecutive drawings you want, or mark Advance Play on the slip.
