How to Play Daily Derby

Overview

Daily Derby is California’s horse-race-style draw game. Pick three horses numbered 1–12 to finish first, second, and third, plus a race time (the time for the first-place horse to finish). A play costs $2. Draws are every day. The Grand Prize is a trifecta plus the race time (odds 1 in 1,320,000). Other prizes (trifecta, exacta, win, race time only) are pari-mutuel.

How to play — step by step

1. 1. Select 3 numbers

   Choose 3 numbers from 1 to 12, or mark Quick Pick and let the terminal choose.

2. 2. Pick horses and a race time

   Select three horses in finishing order (Win, Place, Show) and a race time, or use Quick Pick for horses and/or race time.

3. 3. Mark Advance Play (optional)

   Play the same horses and race time for 1–7 or 14 consecutive daily draws on one playslip.

4. 4. Choose how many drawings

   Pay $2 per play (add-ons cost extra). Tell the retailer how many consecutive drawings you want, or mark Advance Play on the slip.
